Week 9: March 29 - April 4
Observing a Class

Wow! Reading your responses last week was great. This week no reading! I know, shocker. Instead, I'd like you to observe a class. It could be any class at any age level. I'd prefer there to be some element of English or Composition but it is okay if it doesn't. I would like you to take field notes. What did the instructor do? What were their practices? I'd like you to consider both practices and content for this paper.

Early Childhood Classroom Professionals

Everyone will complete a Blog or Vlog for this reading. You can think a little more informally about this response. For this blog/vlog, I think what would be interesting is to think about the organizational structure of the class. How did the teacher set it up? How do they relate to their students, or not? Think about Jennie Nelson's work or any other theory that comes to mind. Blogs are 150 words or the vlog is 3 minutes.
You can choose to complete a microtheme paper for this article. You will need to complete 3 microtheme papers during this course. In this paper, you should consider a more formal approach. For the microtheme, I would like you to think of how the organization and the content were/or not connected? Did the content make sense? What was the teacher trying to do? Did they accomplish this objective? If so, or not, why? What stood in the way? What really worked?

These papers are 4 pages long in correct MLA or APA format and should cite all of your material properly. Spelling and grammar count, too. You should be quoting and citing in these papers and they should include a separate (not counted towards the 4-page minimum) Works Cited or Reference page.
