Activity:  Internet Search on Social Issues

 

Prior to class please take some time looking online for social issues that are prevalent today in our society. Go to websites like CNN, FoxNews, and other news sites. Read over the articles and find three that really interest you that you think might make a good research project. Bring in an article that interests you to class. 

 

 

Thursday

Activity:  Watch Plagiarism PowerPoint

On the left you will find a PowerPoint that will help you on Plagiarism. Since we are moving into citing material, make sure you familiar with the rules of citing that include intext citations and paraphrasing. Please read prior to class.

 

 

Friday

Activity:  Blog Posting#4

After reading looking through the internet compile a list of social issues that seem interesting.  Write a 2 to 3 sentence explanation of the social issue, why it interests you, and explain where you found the idea and what the artilce was about.  

 

Sunday

Activity :  Microtheme 4:  Social Issues in our World

After doing some online research find three social issues in our world and discuss how they could be turned into a research project.  Your essay should have an introduction and thesis that discusses the three social issues foundthrough your reading. You should then go into detail regarding the three issues.  Also, create a conclusion. 

 

Your essay should be in MLA format and a minimum of 1 page.  Use your Diana Hacker A Pocket Style Manual to help you with basic MLA format.  When you are done, post your paper to Blackboard in the Microtheme 3:  Social Issues in Book Assignment.  For your  For your convenience, I have placed a link to the left to post your paper.
